As a creative individual, you delight in sharing your talent with the world, yet you often grapple with self-doubt and hesitation when presenting your ideas. Rest assured, you are not alone; many creatives, myself included, experience similar challenges.

This article aims to share some valuable lessons I have learned in embracing my talent, along with the steps I am taking to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I hope this serves as an encouragement for you to do the same.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mojoyinola Esther Babalola, more commonly known as 'Esther Babs'. I am an emerging music artist with a profound passion for singing and all things creativity. I produce YouTube videos on various intriguing topics. I hold a master’s degree in business analytics and an undergraduate degree in Economics.

From a young age, I had an affinity for music and always envisioned a future in the creative realm, even if the path was not entirely clear. Over the years, I have observed how difficult it can be for creatives to step out of their comfort zones and create something remarkable.

There are moments when ideas arise, only to be dismissed subconsciously because we deem them insignificant. However, the truth is that every idea, no matter how small, holds potential. Ideas come in their raw form, and it is through acting on these seemingly insignificant notions that we can give birth to groundbreaking inventions. I firmly believe in pursuing my goals with determination, yet the creative process often presents unique challenges.

Fortunately, there are proven methods to overcome these obstacles and fully realize our potential. The first step is recognizing your identity in Christ. Understanding that you were created by God and tailored to the highest standard of creation is fundamental to embracing your talents. Consider the universe, the trees, the birds, and the mountains—each crafted meticulously to support human existence. How much more special are you? Everything you need already resides within you; it is up to you to harness and maximize it without letting any potential go to waste.

Secondly, surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Unity holds great power, and this power flourishes when everyone shares a common goal. Personally, I have benefited immensely from participating in groups that align with my interests, such as joining the choir, being part of a local church, and engaging in communities that foster my growth and challenge me to improve my art. It is disheartening to be among people who do not share your vision, as they might discourage your aspirations or dismiss your ideas due to differing mindset.

Next is to focus on the small steps. Take it one step at a time. For instance, if you aim to improve your singing or expand your vocal range, try learning a new song each week. These small efforts will eventually culminate in significant achievements.

Lastly, seek mentorship from those ahead of you in the industry. The amount you can learn from a mentor is astonishing. As the popular saying by Myles Munroe goes, &quote 'When you find your mentor, you find your destiny'. If you are yet to find a mentor or relate to anyone currently, do not worry. There is room for exploration and trying out different mentors until you find the right fit.
